What best platform for video conferencing bandwidth by the media many functions?

Designing the perfect delivery of infrastructure for video conferencing and various media seem to be hard work, great work, time to destroy, and expensive. But what is more important is the assessment you wish to use .... What do you want the possibility to choose (eg, T1, DS3, OC3, Ethernet) ... and why. Had a plan to .... and all will fall into place.

First, you need to ask and answer the following questions:


  • This is the kind of content you want to use the conference system. Would it be just talking heads video, or whether you need to listen to sources other video?

  • How many participants will you have?

  • Do you need to talk to several areas at one time?

  • Do you want a special room or mobile solutions?

  • Are there any IT / network infrastructure?

  • Do you have a system of conferences other? If so what?



This is the kind of questions that must be asked again during the process of designing a solution of the Conference. Codec selection answersthen car, that equipment / software selection, and the most appropriate to the needs of processing.

If the right front end of the selected product is easy to make IT integration into new or existing / network infrastructure.

Rather than considering the underlying physical topology is used, must be considered to find a network provider who can provide the features needed to support the request. The effect of all this is that your VoIP phone and video sex without any interference or other problems with your Internet connection will slow only slightly when you receive a phone call from a hook or put the needs of the VPN.

Legacy networks and QoS functions difficult to implement due to constraints of the old designs and materials (eg old broadband cable network). Network built throughout the day can provide QoS, but some designs work better than others. Always get a record of other clients using the same applications and make sure you will succeed.

Bandwidth when projecting the need for the design, remember the man. If bandwidth is available, people who use it. General trend, I ve seen is that the use of doubling every year. Of course, adding a web application can do so much faster growth.

In brief .... back all your needs and begin to back up the deployment, such as:


  • How many users Concurrent

  • Available bandwidth

  • Types of services to deployed

  • An access technology for all ages to participate.

  • Required Bandwidth (with room for growth) to fill the gap.



If you only see a couple talking a little head on the data, you can drop a few hundred kbps per connection. However, if you check the medical consultation for surgical procedures in hi-def, then 20-30 Mbps or more for each connection may be required.

Furthermore, what else is happening on your network? If this is a converged network (and which eventually went the way it was), then this video is to compete with other video voice, data and who knows what else. What methods are available to manage the data on the web? Even gigabit Ethernet can drown if there is a lot of HD video streams on the web.

Finally, what level of quality claimed for the system users? When you can do so by meeting 128kbps video, the video is very poor, and all the data packet loss or errors always cause problems. If you want to TelePresence (feeling there), then the need for 1-way delay less than 250 MS, which limits the compression (the frame) selection increased bandwidth requirements.

The point is that there will be a tradeoff between capacity, quality and bandwidth requirements.
