Basically ..... Give me a clear check and I will spend every dime on bandwidth pipes. Give me a fixed budget and I will squeeze every penny from Bandwidth compression techniques and accept the quality trade off.
Herein lies the dilemma ..... Bandwidth vs quality.
So, this is really not a bandwidth problem, but QoS (Quality of Service).
If you re ready to accept some risk in the QoS manage your budget under control ..... there are options open to you.
And bandwidth, will be small for the number of users who use the video / Internet Multimedia Streaming. About 384kbps per active connection per direction is the main scale video conferencing (320x240). Double 640x480, and 1080i HD 3-7Mbps for each feed.
LAN - Local Area Network, one of the purchase and build
Wan - The one you hire and pay, DSL, etc.
DSL - Digital Subscriber Line, 3-7Mbps
VPN - Virtual Private Networking technology key to your solution
For the network topology you want an Ethernet LAN Video Conferencing in each location. This is a standard for nearly all of the LAN. You are weak or Wide Area Network connection is one that needs to speculation. 10 years the only choice will be either a T-1's at 1.5 Mbps each, T-3 at 45Mbps, or Fiber to the Bandwidth Bandwidth is calculated depending on the needs of the infinite.
Internet backbone currently more developed and able to overcome the VPN through a cable / DSL is very good. VPN software to create a virtual run on dedicated broadband connection such as DSL.
Many (Linksys) router VPN network comes with a capacity. This solution should be tried first because it exponentially more expensive than the other way. All you'll need a VPN router (Linksys $100) and 3-7Mbps DSL / Cable in every video feed location. Don t forget to get a static IP DSL to each location so you can create a permanent structure VPN Internet.
